Plank Road Girls Meet the Dungeon Master

Back when Emily and I were writing a first draft of the novel we called Girls of the Plank Road, we decided that a map of Yorkville would be a useful addition for readers who didn’t know the territory as well as we did.  I had the good fortune to know a Dungeon Master whose expertise had resulted in several college friends having frittered away entire semesters playing Dungeons and Dragons.  Rich Novotney agreed to draw the map posted on our Resources page.

I should add that Rich and I, fellow English majors at Valparaiso University, have had a longstanding bet about which of us would first be published.  Rich now owes me eternal fealty and a bag of peanut M&Ms.

  1. Rich Novotney

I believe it was regular M&M’s, my dear.

A final word: Nobody loses with more class than Novotney. After the book launch he presented me with customized M&Ms inscribed “Congrats Hilda” and “Plank Rd Summer.”
